When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

And that's all, folks.
Previous: [link] Next: The stars. Fun facts: 1) There is a cancerous, gnarled, shivering knot of hardened meat where the tendons of my wrist and forearm used to be. This is an intriguing turn of events. 2) This one was, more than any of the former rounds, built for the reader to think about. Especially the final confrontation with Karl in the previous section. If, even for just a single second, you the reader felt bad for Karl, saw it not as rightful vengeance but the merciless execution of a broken creature, if for even that second you thought yes, the Professor was in fact worse, then my job has been done. Because you, the reader, for a split second, saw through the eyes of a sociopath, and agreed with him. Ooops. 8D 3) I am never drawing a single fucking pair of goggles again. 4) The baby's name is Cora. (Cora Alexia [error last name = "0"]) 5) Annie's death has been planned since I agreed to join the tournament. 6) There are no words for how much I've wanted to say "I'm going somewhere with this, I swear!" over the past six months. 7) How freaking hardcore is Karl. He gets decapitated. He loses an arm. He gets mentally gang-banged. And then he gets blown up. AND HE STILL. DOESN'T. DIE. God I loved writing him. 8) I broke the "next" link of the first section on purpose. Noticed today that I left out a last line, and left in some pencils that I'd meant to delete, in this section, so those are fixed. Immense amounts of love and appreciation go to =TheCrowchan for being my beta the entire time, and to =manic-pixie, `Endling, and =Bilious for patiently allowing me to bounce ideas off them like quarters off their washboard abs. Credit is also quite due to `Endling for suggesting the possibility of Karl's possession, and to *CyrilTheWizard for inspiring the fallout of the wish. If you haven't seen *Unknown-person's breathtaking entry, make like a tree, and get the fuck over there, immediately. I mean it. I'm watching you. In order of appearance... You left me wondering where you were going with what happened with Annie right off the bat... but you followed through beautifully. You even managed moments of downright hilarious merged with a seriousness that told this finale in the most spectacular fashion.
The only moment that confused me a bit was with the spirits and Karl. Maybe I went over it too quickly, but it kinda stumped me. Going back to read over it again to try and figure it out, though.
Either way, this was an amazing piece and well worth the wait. Kudos, Lillian, this is a job masterfully well done.

Bravo, and the best of luck to you and Unknown, I give you a 10/10... And now I honestly don't know who I want to win anymore...

You are a master of storytelling. I have enjoyed your artwork, your characters, and your thought-provoking interactions more than I know how to say.
Thank you for the opportunity to read such a masterpiece, and I wish you the best of luck in the tournament.
